Privacy Policy

Jotfi is built on a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you. All expense entries, notes, and tags are stored exclusively on your device and are never transmitted to any server. We do use limited analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience — this is described in full below.

Your expense data

The following data is stored locally on your device only, using Apple's on-device data layer (SwiftData), and never leaves your device:

• Expense entries (amount, note, tags, date)
• App preferences (currency, theme, display options)

This data is never transmitted to Jotfi or any third party. It leaves your device only if you explicitly choose to export it using the in-app export feature (Pro) and share the file yourself.

Analytics & session recording

Jotfi uses PostHog to collect anonymised analytics and session recordings. This helps us understand how the app is used and identify areas for improvement.

PostHog may collect the following information:

• Screen views and in-app navigation events
• Feature interactions (e.g. opening the calendar, using tags)
• Session recordings of on-screen interactions
• Device type, iOS version, and app version
• Locale and timezone
• A randomly generated anonymous identifier (not linked to your identity)
• Session duration and general usage patterns

PostHog does not collect the content of your expense entries — your amounts, notes, and tags remain on your device and are never sent to PostHog or to us. Session recordings capture UI interactions only, not the values you type.

Subscriptions

Jotfi uses RevenueCat solely to manage in-app subscription purchases (Jotfi Pro). RevenueCat may process limited purchase-related data (such as a device identifier) as required by Apple's App Store infrastructure to verify subscription status. This data is governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Bank and financial account access

Jotfi does not connect to, access, or request access to any bank account, credit card, or financial institution. All entries are manually entered by you.

Children's privacy

Jotfi does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Analytics data collected via PostHog is anonymised and not linked to any individual identity. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Data export

Pro subscribers may export their expense data as a CSV or plain text file using the in-app export tool. Exported files are generated on-device and shared only if you choose to share them via the iOS Share Sheet. We never receive or process exported files.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, an updated version will be published at this URL with a revised date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
